Orcas (Print)
This piece was inspired by several things - the vital interconnected relationship between land + sea, the deep bond of the matriarchal society of the orcas, a reminder that we’re really all just made of star dust, and a nod to the astonishing and inspiring reality that we humans have still only explored less than 10% of the ocean bottom. This burn was a special one for me. It holds secrets in the wave like grain of the curly maple wood and the hundreds of stars scattered throughout the pod. The matriarch carries the moon and mountains upon her back - a symbol of the weight of her leadership and her role in the greater balance of the natural world.
Look closely and you’ll find 8 hidden nautically themed constellations within the orcas.
34” x 16” Enhanced Matte Print
